Formerly "To China For Kelly"

When I originally set up this blog, it was to chronicle our trip to China to adopt our daughter, Kelly; thus the title, "To China For Kelly." But now that I've decided to keep it up as my on-line scrapbook/journal, the title needs updating.
Inspired by my girls, who, despite their ten year age difference, both love lollipops and lip gloss; it is now titled, "From Lollipops to Lip Gloss." This is not to leave my son out, who also loves lollipops, but isn't too big on lip gloss, understandably!

Science Olympiad

This weekend, Caleb competed in the Regional
"Science Olympiad" Competition.
Here he is with his partner, Zack, before their first event. They have been working after school three days a week + some weekends on this... we were rooting for them to do their best!
Discussing their first event, "The Scrambler," right before it began...
Setting it up...

Watching from the sidelines with high hopes that it does what it's supposed to do...
There were a few kinks, but "The Scrambler" did well!

A "thumb's up" from their science teacher, Mr. Carmean.
He's always so positive and encouraging.

There were two other events that we were not allowed to watch, so I don't have pictures of those.
Caleb's main event that was his strength was Astronomy.
Here they are at the Awards Ceremony awaiting their fate... if they place high enough, they go on to State...

Ah, wouldn't you know it?! They got First Place for Astronomy!

Here's Caleb with the rest of the teams from his school.
Caleb and his partner will go on to State competition now!

Good job, Caleb!
We're so proud of you!

Way to Go, Caleb! As far as Astronomy goes... You've always been a STAR in my heart! Keep up the great work. All these accomplishments come from your hard work and the gifts and talents God has given you. Every good and perfect gift comes from the Father of Lights! Continue to let your light shine and in all ways acknowledge HIM and He will give you the desires of your heart! I join in, in being so very proud of you! When I gaze up at the stars tonight, I know that these are the very same stars that God decorated the Heavens with long ago and yet you and I can share them tough distance separates us. Congratulations, my young astrophysist! I can see you combining the study of extraterrestrial bodies (planets, comets, stars etc.), their behavior and ultimately understanding the universe and physics by observing them and paralleling that with the study of God's word! Mucho Kudos to you! I'll be praying for a State Championship for you and Zack!

Way to go Caleb! Congrats on making it to State! Hard work does indeed pay off! I look forward to hearing how you do at State. It does not surprise me in the least how well you do at science and school in general! What a role model you are! Keep up the great work. We are proud of you!

Okay, my Mom sounded like Yoda in her comment, LOL! Come on Caleb, do the voice, "Always a shining star you have been".

Anyway, I digress. What I really wanted to say is that you ROCK Caleb and I am so excited for you and so proud of you. Remember, when you get to state - "There is no try".

Love,
Auntie
